Spring is here and after Sept. 2025 (Hurricane Helene) many changes are underway in our natural habitats. We want you to witness natures response to these changes as we explore the terrain from our New River frontage to the vernal pond/bog area to the highland trails of NRWCC. Walk will be led by our members Ashley DeCarme and Kevin Combs. Ashley is a Virginia Master Naturalist and teaches at Grayson High School. Kevin is a noted outdoor photographer and videographer and leads Fries tourism.

Ashley will focus on our spring plants but with the variation of our habitat you never know what species of insects, mammals, and birds might show up? Kevin will share 10 essential skills or tips to outdoor photography along the way!

We will meet at the NRWCC parking lot at 7107 Riverside Dr., Fries at 10 am. Wear comfortable outdoor clothes and hiking boots/shoes. Bring a cap, sun screen, bug juice, fluids, and rain gear. Bring your cell phone or camera!!

We’ll have some light refreshments afterwards and maybe share some of our shots!
